Commercial Operations and Development Manager - Logistics/Distribution - Nottingham
Salary: up to £40K Base Plus Bonus and Benefits
Our client is a market leader in the International Logistics Industry.
Job Role & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for ensuring the commercial success of your branch, which includes bringing on new business. Strong sales skills and a proactive approach are essential, with targets set accordingly.
During the first six months, your primary focus will be on commercial growth, with approximately 60% of your KPIs aligned with this goal.
Your responsibilities include:
* Meeting and exceeding branch turnover and profitability targets based on set budgets.
* Overseeing efficient daily branch operations.
* Managing reporting staff to ensure they fulfill their roles effectively.
* Ensuring the welfare of staff, contractors, and the public by maintaining a safe, compliant workplace.
* Implementing best practices to maximize operational efficiency while adhering to H&S requirements.
* Managing the branch's cost centre, negotiating contracts, and validating charges in collaboration with the accounts team.
* Arranging monthly meetings with existing and potential clients to increase volume and profitability.
* Performing other ad-hoc duties as required.
Main Responsibilities
* Driving sustainable revenue and profit growth aligned with budgets.
* Ensuring daily tasks such as job entry, quoting, invoice checking, expenditure recording, vehicle maintenance, and credit control are completed efficiently.
* Managing supplier checks and stock warehouse (500 parts).
* Providing 24/7 support for emergencies.
* Updating service level reports and KPI reports for major accounts.
Requirements
* Proven track record of revenue and net profit growth year-on-year.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
* Logistics industry knowledge is highly advantageous.
* Experience in customer-facing roles and prospecting.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player with an entrepreneurial or sales background.
