Offer description

Location: NHS Fife – North East Fife, Stratheden
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week), part time (minimum 28 hours) would be considered.

NHS Fife has a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join our rapidly developing, friendly primary care team in North East Fife. This team supports GPs practices to deliver polypharmacy reviews, medicines reconciliation, acute and repeat prescription requests, medication reviews and other work in line with the GMS contract. There is opportunity for full utilisation of prescribing on a daily basis within the team.

The role involves working with GP Practices as part of a multi-professional team to optimise safe, quality, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medicines.

Pharmacists, and the wider pharmacy team, are embedded as part of the multi-disciplinary team in all practices, to help deliver high quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients get the best possible outcomes from their medicines, avoiding harm and waste.

You will be supported by Senior Practice Pharmacists and will work with an expanding and developing team of fellow Practice Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Medicines Management Support Workers.

Whilst the position on offer is full time (37 hours per week), part time hours would be considered at a minimum of 28 hours per week.

This role is an excellent developmental opportunity to give Pharmacists a breadth of experience across the diverse, interesting & engaging clinical nature of primary care. Whilst experience of primary care would be desirable, prospective candidates currently working in other sectors are encouraged to apply as full training will be provided. As an integrated pharmacy service, we run regular staff development sessions on a range of clinical topics, and along with our MDT colleagues, there is regular opportunity to attend wider educational and CPD events.

North East Fife is comprised of 11 practices. The successful candidate will be given a proportion of these practices, appropriate to hours worked within the week.

Fife has something to offer everyone and for further details, please see the attached job pack.

For an informal discussion about the post, or to arrange to spend time with a member of the team to see the role, please contact Calum Murray, Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Primary Care calum.murray2@nhs.scot or Amina Slimani-Fersia, Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Primary Care amina.slimani-fersia@nhs.scot

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
