Inventory Team Leader – Warehouse Operations
As the Inventory Team Leader within a busy warehouse environment, you will be responsible for leading a team to ensure accurate stock control, efficient inventory processes, and smooth coordination between goods‑in, storage, and dispatch. You’ll play a key role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting operational targets, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, coach, and develop a team of inventory operatives.
* Allocate tasks and monitor performance to meet daily operational goals.
* Conduct team briefings and support training initiatives.
* Oversee daily inventory activities including cycle counts, stock takes, and adjustments.
* Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies quickly and effectively.
* Ensure accurate data entry into warehouse management systems (WMS).
* Liaise with Goods‑In, Picking, and Dispatch teams to ensure stock accuracy across all areas.
* Support inbound and outbound processes with inventory checks and validations.
* Monitor replenishment and location accuracy to optimise space and efficiency.
* Produce regular inventory reports and KPIs for management review.
* Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation and traceability.
* Ensure compliance with warehouse health & safety standards and company policies.
* Identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
* Champion lean practices and contribute to warehouse improvement projects.
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in a warehouse inventory or stock control role.
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
* Working knowledge of WMS or ERP systems.
* Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
* Good communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Warehousing or equivalent.
* Forklift license (Counterbalance or Reach).
* Experience with lean methodologies or continuous improvement initiatives.
