Role Overview
We are seeking a Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team, responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of a varied fleet of plant and specialist equipment. This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to client sites to carry out both scheduled and reactive maintenance activities.
Working independently from home, youll play a critical role in ensuring the equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably. You’ll also be a key point of contact for customers, providing technical support and maintaining accurate service records.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Maintenance
* Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical and non-mechanical plant equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures.
* Accurately record hours worked, parts used, and update service records in the system.
* Raise job sheets and ensure service certificates are properly filed and accessible.
* Manage parts requisition through the internal ordering system, including identifying stock shortfalls and submitting purchase requests.
* Capture and report equipment damage with supporting photographic evidence for potential recharge.
* Proactively identify equipment for disposal and escape recommendations to management.
* Maintain and organise vehicle stock, including tools, spares and consumables.
On‑Site Support
* Liaise with customers to update on job progress, downtime and any potential delays.
* Complete both scheduled and unscheduled onsite service jobs, ensuring all relevant documentation is recorded accurately.
* Deliver a high level of customer service with a solutions‑oriented approach.
Commercial & Stock Control
* Ensure stock movements are accurately recorded to maintain inventory levels.
* Highlight stock discrepancies or order delays to prevent service interruptions.
* Assist with annual stock checks and contribute to the accuracy of stock records.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
* Adhere to all quality control processes and suggest improvements where applicable.
* Work collaboratively with team leaders and other departments to streamline operations.
* Maintain high levels of communication and support across the wider operations team.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
* Follow all health and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and complying with site‑specific requirements.
* Complete tasks as per risk assessments and report any potential non‑compliance issues.
* Submit positive interventions and report incidents using established procedures.
* Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in all work environments, including vehicle upkeep.

Candidate Profile
Essential
* Previous experience in a Plant Fitter / Plant Engineer role.
* Basic IT proficiency (job logging and stock systems).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
* Self‑motivated, adaptable and a team player.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
* NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Plant Maintenance.
* In‑date CSCS card.
* Valid forklift licence.
