Provides cost management services from contract signature and award to completion of projects in various sectors. Advises on the issuance of certificates and preparation of cost control and reporting services.
You’ll Be Responsible For:
* Preparing contract documents, warranties, bonds, and licenses, and assisting in formal execution by the appropriate parties.
* Advising on administration of the building contract terms.
* Measuring and providing valuations of work carried out and adjusting variations per contract terms, in agreement with the contractor.
* Providing cost control and reporting services during the contract.
* Preparing financial reports for the client as required.
* Identifying all costs related to design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
* Participating in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs by contractors and subcontractors/suppliers.
* Advising on certificates of practical completion and ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
* Advising on certificates of making good defects and final completion according to project requirements.
* Delivering system and process improvements, and driving transformational change.
* Working collaboratively towards net zero carbon transition, including managing associated emissions and reductions during project delivery.
You’ll Need To Have:
* Experience delivering service excellence to clients.
* Proven experience in commercial management.
* Understanding of costs, timescales, and risk implications of work undertaken.
* Experience in risk management and change control management.
* Knowledge of different contract types.
* Negotiation, analytical, and digital competency.
* A degree in quantity surveying or cost management (or equivalent).
* Relevant technical qualifications/certifications.
* Experience with various contract forms, including advice on contract administration and management.
* Effective communication skills with stakeholders.
* Ability to identify opportunities for improving practices.
* Stakeholder management skills and relationship development.
* Problem-solving and analytical skills for cost and contract issues.
* Self-awareness regarding strengths and weaknesses, with a willingness to learn and seek support.
You’ll Also Have:
* Knowledge of BIM techniques and applications.
* Professional membership or progress towards MRICS/RICS or similar.
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms.
* Experience in Capex vs Opex cost analysis and advice.
* Understanding of value engineering, lifecycle costing, contract law, and frameworks.
* Participation in initiatives that add value and improve services, e.g., BIM.
* Commitment to inclusivity and understanding of sustainability, social value, and carbon reduction.
* Awareness of industry best practices.
