Overview
We are seeking a Vocational Trainer to deliver engaging Business and Management courses to adult learners in a supportive community learning environment. The role focuses on building practical skills, confidence and employability.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality, inclusive and engaging teaching, learning and assessment both in person and online to ensure learners achieve planned outcomes.
* Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials that reflect sector practice, employer expectations and awarding body criteria.
* Prepare learners for assessment, ensuring timely completion and achievement of qualifications and professional standards.
* Design and adapt delivery to meet individual learning needs and embed English, maths, digital and employability skills where appropriate.
* Use appropriate diagnostic and formative assessment tools to track progress, provide constructive feedback, and support improvement for successful learner outcomes.
* Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safeguarding and Prevent, and actively promote equality of opportunity and wellbeing across all aspects of service delivery.
* Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress and achievement using ACL‑approved systems to support monitoring and reporting requirements.
* Collaborate with colleagues, employers and partners to ensure programmes meet sector demand and provide clear progression routes.
* Engage in professional development, standardisation and quality improvement activities to ensure currency of vocational knowledge and pedagogical practice.
* Work flexibly to meet the business needs of the service. Other duties may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature of the post.
Qualifications
* Educated to RQF Level 4 or above in a relevant vocational area (or equivalent professional experience).
* Occupationally competent in delivering qualifications up to and including Level 5.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and up‑to‑date occupational expertise in a relevant vocational field.
* Proven experience in teaching, training or assessing adults or apprentices, preferably in FE or work‑based learning.
* Strong planning, organisational and communication skills with the ability to adapt delivery for diverse learner needs.
* Competent in the use of e‑learning platforms, digital tools and online delivery methods.
* Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
Benefits
Part‑time position of 22.2 hours per week, pro‑rated salary up to £20,800 per annum. Flexible working arrangements to accommodate unpaid carers and other needs.
Working Conditions
The role requires mobility throughout the operational area. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, or other acceptable means of meeting mobility requirements, is essential.
