Student Support Adviser, 37 hours per week, Term Time Only
This role involves planning and delivering mentoring and pastoral support to students to help remove barriers to learning related to behaviour, motivation, aspirations, and academic achievements.
2. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
The duties are professional and wide-ranging, including but not limited to the following:
1. Case Management: Responsible for a caseload of students at risk of not completing or achieving their learning aims, providing individualised and targeted support.
2. Assessment and Prioritisation: Assess and prioritise referrals based on need.
3. Support Identification: Assist students in identifying personal, community, family, and college-related issues impacting them.
4. Mentoring Relationships: Develop and manage mentoring relationships to address students' needs.
5. Immediate Support: Provide first-line support to students in crisis or exhibiting concerning behaviour, referring to appropriate internal or external agencies.
6. Social and Emotional Development: Support students individually or in groups in their social and emotional growth.
7. Personal Difficulties Support: Support students through personal challenges and assist with their learning outside of teaching hours to ensure retention and achievement.
8. Tutorial Support: Assist with meeting deadlines and targets in collaboration with tutors and curriculum staff.
9. Attendance and Punctuality: Follow up on attendance issues and liaise with staff to support students in returning to college and continuing their courses.
10. Communication and Organisation: Facilitate communication with internal staff and external agencies regarding students' pastoral and health needs.
11. Additional Services: Manage services like C-Card sign-up and promote health and wellbeing activities.
12. Admissions and Transition: Assist with admissions, transitions, enrolment, and induction processes.
13. Administration: Contribute to reports and statistics related to the service.
14. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities and team meetings.
15. Inclusivity: Ensure access to support for all students regardless of individual circumstances.
16. Policy Compliance: Adhere to college policies and procedures.
17. Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
