Job Title: Freelance Functional Skills Tutor – Entry Level English and Maths
Location: Gloucester / Cheltenham
Salary: Competitive Daily rate
Contract Type: Freelance (can be Full-Time / Part-Time depending on availability)

Job Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching and learning for Entry Level English and Maths courses. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting adult learners aged 19+ to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and to support them into further learning, training or employment.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in open days – Completing learner enrolments and assessments
* Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons in English and Maths at Entry Levels 1–3.
* Differentiate teaching methods and resources to meet individual learner needs, including learners with ESOL backgrounds or additional support needs.
* Support learners in developing employability and life skills
* Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
* Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress and achievement in line with quality assurance procedures.
* Deliver both classroom-based and online teaching as required.
* Provide constructive feedback and conduct reviews with learners to support their individual learning plans (ILPs).
* Prepare learners for final assessments
* Participate in standardisation, CPD and team meetings to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
* Promote British Values, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion throughout all aspects of delivery.
Essential Criteria
* Level 2 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Experience of working with adult learners, including those from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to use digital learning tools (e.g. Teams)
* Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd).
* Experience teaching Functional Skills English and Maths at Entry Level.
* Experience working with Asylum seekers and Refugee communities
* Experience of delivering courses funded through ASF or similar adult education programmes.
