Finance Director
Location – West Midlands
Salary - £100,000 – 130,000 + Benefits + Bonus + LTIP
Greenwell Gleeson have been retained to recruit a Finance Director for a high-growth, Private Equity-backed business operating in the UK, currently scaling rapidly with ambitious plans. With strong investor support, a clear commercial strategy, and a high-performing team, they are seeking a commercially astute Finance Director to drive financial performance, support strategic initiatives, and act as a critical partner to the CEO and external stakeholders.
Role Overview
As Finance Director, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team reporting to the CEO. You will lead the Finance function and be responsible for delivering insightful financial planning, control, and reporting. You will play a key role in shaping strategy, managing investor relations, ensuring robust financial governance and supporting M&A activity. This is a hands-on and strategic leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Finance & Planning
* Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.
* Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board, providing financial insight to guide decision-making and growth strategy.
* Financial Reporting & Control
* Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate management accounts, board packs, and statutory accounts.
* Ensure financial compliance, risk management, and control frameworks are fit for purpose.
* Investor & Stakeholder Management
* Serve as the key point of contact for Private Equity investors and other funders, ensuring transparency and proactive communication.
* Support the Board with investor reporting, covenant compliance, and preparation for exit.
* Commercial & Operational Finance
* Partner with operational teams to drive performance improvements, margin optimisation, and working capital management.
* Lead financial input on pricing, procurement, cost control, and commercial decision-making.
* M&A & Exit Readiness
* Support the identification, evaluation, and integration of potential acquisitions.
* Play a key role in preparing the business for a future exit, including data room readiness, due diligence, and financial narrative.
* Team Leadership
* Build and lead a high-performing finance team, supporting development and succession planning.
* Instil a culture of accountability, commercial thinking, and continuous improvement across the business in line with our values.
Requirements
* Qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 10+ years of experience, including in a senior finance leadership role. Manufacturing experience will be important.
* Prior experience in a Private Equity-backed business is essential.
* Proven track record of leading finance in a scaling business, ideally with M&A and/or exit experience.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence at Board level.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Hands-on, agile, and comfortable in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
Desirable
* Familiarity with market expansion, systems implementation, or transformation projects.
* Exposure to debt structures, banking relationships, and covenant management.
