Mon - Thurs: 08:30 - 17:00; Fri: 08:30 - 15:30
As a Mechanical Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be;
* To support the Semiconductor Packaging department in the design, development and manufacture of components and assemblies, including tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
* To undertake early-stage product and process feasibility studies aligned to customer requirements and, where possible, develop advanced concepts through the use of emerging technologies and configurations.
* To work closely with Project Managers and technical staff to provide expert knowledge to support quality, cost and lead-time quotations, including being present in customer facing meetings both at CIL and customer sites within the UK.
* To take conceptual ideas through detailed design and development and into prototype and full-scale production volumes, including an understanding and use of DFM/DFA principles.
* To support and maintain product test and verification (DVP) activity across full development lifecycle, including measurement analysis and reporting.
* To apply and maintain quality, and to optimise engineering processes and practices for the manufacturing of products in line with company and international quality standards.
* To provide professional and technical guidance to the wider Semiconductor Packaging department, supporting manufacturing engineers in adopting a ‘right first time’ approach.
* To develop professional and personal skills through education, training and development within the team and externally.

Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant discipline or high technology industry, with a strong product and process development bias ideally within semiconductor packaging or processing.
* Qualified to HND level or equivalent as a minimum in mechanical, electrical or production engineering (a degree in an engineering discipline preferred).
* Sound knowledge and practical experience of CAD modelling and creating detail 2D drawings (Solidworks preferred).
* Ability to analyse functional requirements and apply appropriate design criteria, process and tolerance to meet specification.
* Good working knowledge of Engineering materials and manufacturing processes and their selection to meet product design requirements.
* Capable of supporting concept development through the use of ‘Design of Experiment’ practice.
* Familiarity and having prior engagement with root cause analysis, using problem-solving techniques and implementing corrective actions.
* Knowledge of quality standards ISO9001, IATF16949 and IPC would be advantageous.
* Experience of dealing with customer and supplier related issues.
* Self-starter, pro-active and with a can-do attitude.
* Experience of planning and prioritising personal workload.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with internal and external stakeholders.
* Computer literate and adept with Microsoft office toolset.
