Apprentice Respiratory & Sleep Physiologist - CDC
To be considered for this post, the applicant must have a Level 2 Maths & English qualification and a Level 2 Science qualification (equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 and above). The successful candidate will study for one day per week over 2 years to achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Respiratory and Sleep Physiology.
The primary role involves supporting the Respiratory Physiology team in managing lung function and sleep services across sites in Surrey and Sussex, both in acute and community settings. Responsibilities include setting up and downloading patient data from home sleep monitoring equipment, initiating and supporting therapy for sleep-disordered breathing, setting up home therapy, conducting clinics, adjusting machine settings, and performing basic maintenance under supervision. The role is mainly outpatient-based but may include ward support. Additionally, the role involves performing basic lung function tests such as spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes, and reversibility testing, which are part of the apprenticeship. Administrative duties to support clinic operations and maintaining clinical/technical records are also required.
