This is a senior leadership role at the heart of how we support our MKUH workforce. The postholder will lead HR Systems and HR Services (including our first line HR Service and Systems Desks), driving transformation with a strong focus on digitalisation, automation and improving access to high quality first line support for staff and managers. The role will also provide leadership for payroll liaison, temporary staffing and Workforce Information functions, ensuring services are efficient, responsive and centred around the needs of our people. Responsibilities
Lead HR Systems and HR Services teams, including first line HR Service and Systems Desks. Drive digital transformation, automation and improved access for staff and managers. Provide leadership for payroll liaison, temporary staffing and Workforce Information functions. Lead and implement HR systems (ESR, e‑rostering, workforce systems) ensuring maximum utilisation and return on investment. Oversee the payroll and pensions contract, manage escalated pay concerns and liaise with payroll provider. Lead the HR Services (Helpdesk) team to provide high‑quality first‑line support, payroll liaison and temporary staff booking service. Manage workforce information delivery, ensuring real‑time data, interoperability and robust reporting; manage FOI requests. Establish and lead workforce automation and digital transformation roadmap, conduct audits for data quality, security and compliance. Ensure excellent staff management standards; oversee appraisals, development plans, mandatory training and budget compliance. Significant senior experience in an NHS HR/People services environment. Strong track record of leading HR systems, HR transactional services and workforce information at scale. Expertise in ESR, e‑rostering, workforce systems optimisation/integration. Proven ability to deliver complex transformation programmes focused on digitalisation, automation and continuous improvement. Governance and assurance capability (information governance, risk management, data integrity and workforce reporting). Strong leadership, communication, collaboration and professional integrity. Ability to work with compassion, clarity and professionalism in sensitive or contentious matters. Willingness to continually learn and develop; self‑awareness. Personal Qualities
