On-Site Construction Project Manager – School Refurbishment (Project Brighton)
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Construction Project Manager to work on-site daily, leading all phases of a school refurbishment project focused on upgrading and modernising educational facilities. The role is critical in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and with minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations.

We are proud to have secured Project Brighton, a major school refurbishment project focused on upgrading and modernising educational facilities to create a safe, sustainable, and inspiring environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
* On-site leadership: Act as the primary point of contact on-site, overseeing day-to-day construction activities.
* Live school environment management: Coordinate works to minimise disruption to teaching and learning, especially during term time.
* Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
* Lead site meetings, reporting progress, risks, and solutions to senior management and stakeholders.
* Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, safeguarding requirements, and health & safety regulations.
* Supervise contractors and subcontractors, ensuring work meets quality and compliance standards.
* Manage procurement and logistics to maintain efficient workflows.
* Proactively identify and resolve issues to prevent delays or cost overruns.
* Maintain strong relationships with school leadership, local authorities, and community representatives.
* Deliver a final handover that meets all quality, safety, and sustainability targets.
Requirements
* Experience degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
* 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager or Site Manager on refurbishment projects, ideally within live school or public sector environments.
* Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, safeguarding protocols, and health & safety practices.
* Proven experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and multiple stakeholders.
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
* Relevant certifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, and Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) required for working within a school environment.
