THE EMPLOYER IS: LIGONIEL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATIONThe Events and Community Engagement worker will act as a key support pillar for the Ligoniel Improvement Association (LIA) in delivering a diverse calendar of local programming. This role is designed to bridge the gap between initial event concepts and successful execution, ensuring that residents of all ages feel represented and included in Ligoniel’s community life.The successful candidate will move beyond basic assistance to become an active participant in the "event lifecycle" - from initial brainstorming and local marketing to on-the-ground coordination and post-event analysis. This role is vital for maintaining the LIA’s reputation for high-quality, safe, and engaging community initiatives.


Responsibilities

* Strategic Planning & Creative Input: Contributing to brainstorming sessions to develop new event ideas that meet the needs of the Ligoniel community.
* Promotion: Coordinating the distribution of physical materials like posters and flyers while also managing digital outreach via social media and online community boards.
* Operational Logistics: Managing the physical requirements of events, including the precise setup of equipment, stalls, and signage, as well as efficient teardown and storage.
* Front-of-House Coordination: Serving as the "face" of the LIA by welcoming attendees, managing registration desks, and providing information to participants.
* Activity Facilitation: Providing hands-on support for specific event features, such as supervising children's activities, managing refreshment stations, or facilitating workshops.
* Impact Assessment: Actively gathering community feedback through surveys and informal interviews to help the LIA measure success and improve future initiatives.
* Compliance & Safety: Vigilantly following health and safety protocols and safeguarding procedures to ensure a secure environment for all staff and volunteers.


Skills and Qualifications

* Verbal Communication: The ability to speak clearly when welcoming or registering attendees at community events.
* Interpersonal Relations: A proven ability to interact with a wide range of community members, from children to the elderly, in a friendly and outgoing manner.
* Teamwork: The capacity to work effectively within a busy, team-oriented environment alongside the LIA Capacity Coordinator and other volunteers.
* Proactive Planning: A demonstrated organized approach to assisting with event planning tasks and brainstorming new initiatives.
* Promotion & Marketing: Basic skills in distributing promotional materials both physically (posters/flyers) and digitally (online/social media).
* Data Collection: The ability to gather and record community feedback through surveys to help measure event success.
* Flexibility: A commitment to working a flexible schedule, as the role requires availability during evenings and weekends when events typically occur.
* Physical Assistance: The ability to assist with the physical aspects of event setup and teardown, such as moving equipment or managing stalls.
* Safety Awareness: A commitment to following health and safety protocols and safeguarding procedures during all activities.
* Community Knowledge: Familiarity with the Ligoniel area and its local demographics to better tailor event outreach.
* Digital Content Creation: Experience using basic design tools (like Canva) or social media platforms to create engaging posts for event promotion.
* Creative Problem Solving: The ability to think on your feet during live events to resolve minor logistical issues or attendee queries.
* Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in a public-facing role, which translates well to welcoming and registering event participants.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Basic knowledge of First Aid or previous exposure to event safety protocols.

The Employer is: LIGONIEL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATIONJobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information- Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.- Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.- Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
