Youth Justice Service High Risk/ISS Officer
This is an exciting opportunity to join Cambridgeshire Youth Justice Service as part of the High-Risk and Intensive Supervision and Surveillance (ISS) Team. This is a key role in our multi-disciplinary service, primarily engaging, assessing, and working directly and creatively with children and young people to prevent and reduce offending among those at risk of custody. The role involves working closely with YJS Officers and the High-Risk Team to support assessment, intervention planning, review, and risk management processes.
As a designated officer within the ISS/High Risk team, the post holder will organize, provide, participate in, and coordinate non-therapeutic activities, education packages, training, and employment opportunities for children on the program, especially those assessed as High Risk. The role also includes monitoring children’s whereabouts and exploring reasons for non-compliance.
We seek a dynamic individual knowledgeable about the Child First principles, who applies this approach and is keen to collaborate with children to support positive change in complex situations. The role can be fast-paced and requires excellent communication skills, experience engaging children positively and effectively, and the flexibility to meet varying demands within agreed timescales.
This is a permanent, county-wide post for 30 hours per week, with pay on a pro-rata basis. The office location will be discussed and decided with the successful candidate. The role requires the ability to travel across the county and transport children when necessary. Evening and weekend work may be required, along with participation in an on-call rota system.
If interested, please apply online, detailing how you meet the person specification. Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday, June 17th at Fawcett House, Trumpington, Cambridge, CB2 9NL.
