Trainee Teaching Assistant – January 2026 Start

ASAP start dates available as well as ongoing roles available.
This role is an excellent entry point into education and a proven pathway to securing a permanent role in schools. It is particularly well suited to graduates, career changers, or those aspiring to move into teaching, SEND support, pastoral roles, or educational psychology.
The Role:
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will gain hands-on classroom experience while being supported through structured training and development.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting teachers in the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons
* Working 1:1 or with small groups of pupils, including those with SEND
* Assisting with classroom preparation, resources, and displays
* Promoting positive behaviour and a safe, supportive learning environment
* Building strong relationships with pupils and school staff
* Engaging fully in training, mentoring, and professional development
Training & Progression:
This role offers a comprehensive introduction to working in schools, including:
* Thrive training to support pupils’ emotional and social development
* Level 2 Teaching Assistant training offered while working
* Ongoing CPD and regular feedback
* A strong opportunity to progress into a long-term or permanent school-based role
We are looking for someone who is:
* Passionate, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people
* A confident communicator who works well as part of a team
* Reliable, proactive, and eager to learn
* Motivated to build a long-term career in education
Desirable (but not essential):
* Experience working or volunteering with children or young people
* A clear interest in education, SEND, or pastoral support
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
