Associate CAD Technician
The Vacancy:
Here at eb7, part of the wider RSK Group we are currently looking for an Associate CAD Technician to join our daylight, sunlight and rights of light team based in London.
You will require good communication and project management skills along with a willingness to lead on some additional responsibilities within the technical team (research and development, training, process and technical improvement etc.) or have additional involvement in the surveying teams.
You will also have detailed technical knowledge of all aspects of rights to light, daylight & sunlight for planning and all aspects of natural lighting design for buildings. This will include methods of assessment, relevant policies, guidance and legislation. You will lead on technical subjects and advise on forthcoming topics, techniques, tools, software & technologies.
Main responsibilities:
* Project management of CAD tasks within the surveying team – including instructions, time and quality assurance.
* Discuss scope and deadlines of projects with the surveyors, ensuring alignment on timelines and adjusting where necessary to meet project goals.
* Review and verify the source information for each task/project to ensure accuracy and completeness (scheme drawings, survey information etc.). Seek additional information or clarification from relevant parties when required.
* Conduct QA of technical work produced by others and verify accuracy and suitability of outputs.
* Conduct technical analysis (when needed) including CAD modelling, plots, results spreadsheets, cutbacks, envelopes etc.
* Participate in regular CAD team meetings to discuss general issues within the team. Including: - general HR, overtime, software, hardware, workflow, training, etc.
* Ensure the technical process and outputs are aligned with relevant standards, accreditations and guidance from professional bodies.
* Ensure the CAD team is aligned with the functions and aspirations of the business (cost, capacity / resource, processes, outputs, presentation, technical knowledge)
* Participate in monthly reports to the Directors / Management Team on CAD team capacity, performance, training issues, process issues, QA issues, HR issues, overtime etc.
Key skills and Experience:
* The ability to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of all commercial services provided by the company and ensure that the processes and outputs of the CAD Technical Team are aligned with those of the business.
* Excellent written and verbal communication in terms of content, clarity and accuracy, such that Associates can effectively communicate their expertise and responsibilities to all members of the business
* Detailed understanding of daylight, sunlight and rights of light topics and basis of technical analysis as defined in Law and planning regulations.
* Detailed understanding of the information used within technical assessments (Photogrammetry, Measured Survey, Planning Information, site research etc.).
* Previous experience conducting Site research and information gathering, client meetings, designing steering advice and Reporting (including written reports, presentations, PlanCity etc.)
Personal Attributes:
You will have excellent attention to detail and be able to confidently work well individually and as part of a wider team.
You will also be able to confidentially manage the CAD Technical team and successfully provide guidance, support and mentoring.
