About The Role

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick are seeking a Lead Enterprise Architect to join the Sizewell C Project. You’ll work with true experts who’ll share their knowledge and provide support, encouragement and invaluable feedback so you never stop learning. Bring us your capability, and we’ll help you take it much, much further.

Sizewell C will create a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will be built next to Sizewell B which began operating in 1995 and has so far avoided more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

This role will be hybrid with a min of 2 days at our Bristol Aztec West office.

What you'll be doing

* The Lead Enterprise Architect (LEA) for the MEH Alliance at Sizewell C provides the strategic architectural direction that underpins the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) works. The role defines, governs, and evolves the enterprise-level technology, data, and information architecture required to support MEH project execution within a highly regulated nuclear construction environment.
* The Lead Enterprise Architect is accountable for defining and maintaining the MEH Alliance’s enterprise-level architecture vision, ensuring all technology, data, and information solutions align with Sizewell C’s digital strategy and regulated-environment requirements. The role translates MEH delivery needs into actionable roadmaps, governing architectures across business, data, application, and technology domains.
* Acting as the senior design authority, the LEA reviews and approves solution designs, enforces architecture standards and patterns, and ensures systems are scalable, secure, resilient, and compliant with nuclear regulatory, cyber, and corporate policies. They manage MEH architecture roadmaps, assess technical debt and integration risks, and evaluate architectural value, cost, and delivery alignment to support prioritisation and investment decisions.
* The role engages closely with MEH leadership, engineering, digital delivery, project controls, and Sizewell C’s Enterprise Architecture team, clearly communicating architectural decisions, risks, and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. It includes oversight of vendor and partner architecture alignment.
* The LEA leads and mentors solution architects, setting architecture methods, tools, and documentation standards, and fostering a strong architecture community and continuous improvement culture. They provide architectural assurance for MEH data, reporting pipelines, and project controls, ensuring data quality, traceability, and compliance with programme-wide standards.
* The role holds key decision rights including approval of MEH architectures, selection of strategic technologies and patterns, definition of target and transition states, and escalation of architectural risks and non-compliances to MEHA leadership and Sizewell C governance.

Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

* Significant experience in architecture roles, including enterprise or senior solution architecture positions.
* Demonstrated background in large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary engineering or construction programmes.
* Experience working within regulated environments (nuclear, defence, energy, or similar) is strongly preferred.
* Degree in IT, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
* TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certification is highly desirable
* Ability to obtain a security clearance

Additional Qualifications

* Strong influencing skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders in complex, matrixed organisations.
* Clear, executive‑level communicator able to translate complex architectural concepts for diverse audiences.
* Pragmatic, delivery‑focused approach suited to schedule‑driven project environments.
* Broad expertise across Business, Data, Application, and Technology Architecture domains.
* Strong understanding of integration patterns, cloud and data platforms, security architecture, and delivery in regulated environments.
* Proven experience delivering architecture for major construction, engineering, or highly regulated sectors (e.g., nuclear, energy, defence).
* Ability to assess and safely apply emerging technologies within regulatory and programme constraints

Benefits

As part of our package we offer a full range of benefits. You’ll have the freedom to shape the package that’s right for you and your life. Here are some of our key benefits:

* Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
* 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
* Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave
* Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more.
