Role Summary We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Employee Business Partner to join our People & Culture team. The successful candidate will act as a site business partner, providing expert advice and leadership on ER/IR matters across the end-to-end supply chain for the UK, NI & ROI business. You will be instrumental in driving positive employee relations, managing union relationships, and leading people-related transformation projects that align with our strategic objectives. The role holder will play a key role in enabling business performance through proactive people practices and fostering a culture of trust, fairness, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Business Partnering & Transformation Act as a trusted partner to leaders and managers, providing coaching and counsel on complex ER and IR issues to improve people management capabilities and minimise risk. Lead people-focused change management initiatives, including organisational restructures, transfers, and other business transformation programmes, ensuring a fair and legally compliant approach. Use data and insights to identify ER/IR trends, recommending proactive strategies and interventions to enhance employee engagement, performance, and overall workplace culture. Drive and deliver People initiatives to support business needs, such as recruitment, talent development, employee engagement, learning & development and recognition & reward. Industrial Relations & Union Management Serve as the primary point of contact for trade union representatives, fostering constructive relationships through regular consultation and negotiation on matters such as pay reviews and terms and conditions. Manage all industrial relations activities, including negotiations, consultations, and dispute resolution, to ensure business continuity and maintain a positive working climate. Provide expert guidance to the business on collective bargaining agreements and the interpretation and application of industrial relations policies. Navigate complex, heavily unionised environments, demonstrating strong negotiation, mediation, and relationship management skills. Employee Relations Casework & Advisory Manage and resolve complex ER casework including investigation, disciplinary, grievance, and appeal matters, providing end-to-end guidance and ensuring timely and fair outcomes. Conduct and oversee workplace investigations into complex allegations, producing comprehensive reports and advising on appropriate resolutions. Provide training and coaching to managers and People & Culture colleagues to upskill them in handling ER issues consistently and effectively. Lead the response to Employment Tribunal claims and litigation processes in partnership with legal teams, gathering evidence, preparing documentation, and managing external counsel. Project Management Lead on and project manage ER/IR initiatives, defining project scopes, timelines, and deliverables. This includes developing and embedding new policies, processes, and tools. Apply project management methodologies to People projects, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, risk management, and communication plans. Efficiently model and utilise data to inform recommendations. Work cross-functionally with People & Culture colleagues and business stakeholders to drive the successful delivery of projects. Required Skills And Experience Significant experience as an Employee Relations or Industrial Relations professional within a complex, multi-site, and ideally unionised UK, NI & ROI environment. Demonstrable experience of leading or supporting large-scale People or business transformation projects. A proven track record of successful business partnering, with the ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple work streams and deliver projects on time and to budget. In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of UK, NI & ROI employment law and its practical application. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. CIPD Level 5 qualification or higher, or equivalent relevant experience. Adept at using digital platforms and tools to analyse trends, generate insights, and support data-driven decision-making.
