Join us as an NI Fitter/Improver for the North London, Hertforshire and Essex area. We are recruiting for an NI Fitter to join our team based out of Addlestone Office, Surrey, covering the North London, Hertforshire and Essex regions. The successful candidate will measure & set out lift/escalator installations in accordance with approved procedures, comply with statutory regulations and safety requirements, and prepare the work area for installation activities and handover/completion of installation activities. If you are working in construction or lift industry with electrical or mechanical qualifications but don’t have NVQ3, you may apply for the Improver role. A certified fitter is advantageous, but experience is valued.
Responsibilities
* Installing lift/escalator Well and Ancillary Equipment in accordance with approved procedures, selecting appropriate tools and equipment based on operations and equipment to be installed
* Installing Traction Equipment per approved procedures, including siting, assembly, fitting, alignment and adjustment
* Installing Lift Ropes (traction media) and adjusting per procedures; install suspension, safety and governor ropes for new or reconstructed lift equipment
* Installing Lift Doors and Frames (manual and power-operated doors, various types) and safety devices for new or reconstructed lift equipment
* Checking and setting the Lift/escalator installation prior to final test and commissioning
* Carrying out site surveys and keeping the supervisor informed of progress, hours and any non-compliance
* Communicating with customers and supervisor to ensure customer needs are met
* Attending all relevant training sessions
* Carrying out all works in line with the Company’s Quality policy
* Working in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures, maintaining safe behaviour
* Contributing to the Company safety objectives and, where applicable, supporting the safety management system
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator Installation or equivalent, or mechanically/electrically qualified and willing to work toward NVQ3
* CSCS card (valid)
* Advanced product and installation knowledge/experience
* Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
* Ability to work independently with a flexible approach
* Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Installation Managers/SAIS Inspectors)
* Good punctuality
* Manual dexterity for repetitive lifting and use of hand/power tools
* Full UK driving license
