Transition Tutor (KS2–KS3) – Stockton-on-Tees

New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Transition Tutor to support learners in Stockton-on-Tees who are transitioning from Key Stage 2 into Key Stage 3. This role is focused on helping pupils navigate the academic, emotional, and social challenges of moving into secondary education.
You will work 1:1 with learners, using a supportive, relationship-based approach to build confidence, readiness for learning, and engagement.
About the Role
As a Transition Tutor, you will support pupils who may experience anxiety, low confidence, SEN or SEMH needs, or difficulties adjusting to secondary school expectations. Your role is to bridge the gap between primary and secondary education, helping learners feel prepared, supported, and confident as they enter KS3.
Sessions will be delivered 1:1 in schools, homes, learning hubs, or community settings, depending on learner needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver 1:1 transition support for KS2–KS3 learners
• Support English and Maths to strengthen readiness for KS3
• Help learners develop organisation, independence, and study skills
• Build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation
• Adapt sessions to meet individual learning and emotional needs
• Monitor progress and communicate with families and professionals
Essential Requirements
• Experience working 1:1 with primary or lower-secondary learners
• Knowledge of the KS2 and KS3 curriculum
• Experience supporting learners with anxiety, SEN, or SEMH
• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Confident working independently in community or school settings
• Right to work in the UK
