The role
As an Electrical Engineer - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems, you’ll have a meaningful, hands‑on role with real‑world impact, and a platform to deepen your technical mastery while progressing your career on programmes that simply cannot fail.
Day-to-day, you’ll help safeguard and modernise the electrical power distribution network across one of Europe’s largest and most secure dockyards. Your expertise in remote control and monitoring will enable reliable operations, smarter maintenance, and life‑extension upgrades that directly support the Royal Navy and the UK’s defence, aerospace and engineering capability.
1. Design and support Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition solutions that enable safe, reliable remote operation and monitoring of the electrical distribution network.
2. Provide through‑life technical support on design intent, asset condition and configuration for control, monitoring and communications systems.
3. Configure and maintain servers, computer‑based systems and communications networks and protocols that underpin resilient operations.
4. Lead and contribute to design consultancy for new capabilities, modifications and life‑extension activities using robust engineering lifecycle processes.
5. Collaborate across technical support, maintenance and project teams as custodian of technical information and documentation.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 2 - 3 days onsite.
Essential experience of the Electrical Engineer - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems
6. Technical competence delivering and supporting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in operational environments.
7. Hands‑on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and remote telemetry units (RTUs).
8. Configuration and support of servers and computer‑based systems for industrial control.
9. Knowledge of communications networks and protocols used in electrical control and automation.
10. Familiarity with instrumentation for electrical plant and power distribution assets.
Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems
11. HNC/HND (or higher) in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline (essential).
12. Preferred: Further study in control systems, power systems or automation engineering; professional registration or progression towards it (IEng/CEng).

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
