Mike Wood MP is looking for a proactive, compassionate and highly organised Caseworker to join his constituency team. This is a key role in supporting local residents with a wide range of issues and ensuring they receive timely, effective assistance. The successful candidate will play an important part in delivering a high standard of service to constituents, working closely with the MP and the wider office.
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing a varied caseload and responding to constituents' enquiries by phone, email, letter, and in person
• Drafting clear, empathetic, and professional correspondence
• Liaising and developing relationships with stakeholders, government departments, local authorities, and external organisations to pursue casework on behalf of constituents
• Logging, tracking and managing cases using casework systems in full compliance with data protection legislation
• Arranging surgeries and community events, including preparation, bookings, and follow-up
• Identifying emerging trends or local issues within casework and briefing the MP and senior staff where appropriate
• Assisting other team members with general office duties, administration, and large inbox maintenance
• Contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment
• Liaising with the MP and staff in selecting attendance at local events, including diary management
• Providing administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the constituency office
Person specification
Essential:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational ability and attention to detail
• Confidence working independently and managing a busy and varied workload
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
• A strong interest in local and national politics
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party
Desirable:
• Experience using caseworker.mp or similar systems
• Previous experience in a public-facing or advocacy role
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Familiarity with campaigning or social media activity
Some evening and weekend work may be required (subject to business needs).
