Fleet Maintenance ControllerLocation: Barnsley An excellent opportunity to join a well-established, national engineering contractor as a Fleet Maintenance Controller. This role is pivotal in managing and overseeing all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repairs across the company fleet, ensuring compliance, roadworthiness, and cost efficiency. The RoleWe are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Fleet Maintenance Controller to support our Fleet Department at our Head Office in Barnsley on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will handle a variety of responsibilities daily, including but not limited to: Developing and managing maintenance schedules for all company vehicles, including MOTs, servicing, and inspections. Coordinating repair bookings with the Fleet Administration Team and external suppliers. Monitoring vehicle defects and ensuring timely, compliant resolutions. Liaising with suppliers to secure high-quality, cost-effective repair services. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records within the Fleet Maintenance System. Reviewing and approving maintenance invoices. Identifying opportunities for cost savings and addressing recurring maintenance issues. Ensuring vehicle compliance and inspection readiness through proper documentation. Supporting vehicle handovers, returns, and disposals as needed. Assisting the Fleet Manager and covering responsibilities during their absence. Performing additional duties as required to support the fleet operations. Requirements Proven experience as a Fleet Maintenance Controller or in an equivalent fleet management or maintenance role. Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures, legal compliance, and safety standards. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including suppliers and internal teams. Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office Suite. Knowledge of vehicle legislation, MOT requirements, and safety regulations. Ability to analyse maintenance data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
