Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Assistant to support the Health and Safety team within a local authority. You will assist the Health and Safety Manager in promoting a positive health and safety culture and supporting the day-to‑day operations of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to the Health and Safety team.
* Take minutes of meetings and maintain accurate records.
* Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and statistical data.
* Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety systems and policies.
* Coordinate and organise health and safety training, including booking rooms and recording attendance.
* Assist with asbestos management and other health and safety compliance tasks.
* Respond to written enquiries and Freedom of Information requests as required.
* Promote health and safety awareness across the organisation.
Skills & Experience
* Recent experience taking minutes of meetings.
* Ability to communicate fluently, both written and verbal.
* Basic knowledge of health and safety legislation.
* High‑level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
Qualifications
* Educated to Level 2 (GCSE A-C or equivalent), including English and Maths.
* NEBOSH General Certificate is desirable or willingness to work towards it.
