SEN Personal Care Assistant – Primary (Waterlooville)
Prospero Teaching is seeking calm, compassionate, and reliable SEN Personal Care Assistants to join a specialist primary school in Waterlooville. The school supports pupils across EYFS and primary ages with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, sensory processing differences, communication challenges, learning disabilities, complex medical needs, and barriers to accessing learning.
We also welcome applications from candidates interested in ad‑hoc supply work, including day‑to‑day, short‑term, and long‑term cover-ideal for those seeking flexible, meaningful work within a nurturing SEN environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing personalised care and support to pupils with a variety of physical, sensory, and communication needs
2. Assisting children who may experience anxiety, emotional dysregulation, sensory overload, or difficulties with transitions
3. Supporting personal care routines such as toileting, feeding, hygiene, and mobility, always promoting dignity and independence
4. Encouraging engagement through play‑based, sensory‑led, therapeutic, and differentiated activities
5. Promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive behaviour throughout the school day
6. Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, and developing life skills
7. Building trusting, consistent relationships using calm, clear, and reassuring communication
8. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to deliver holistic, child‑centred care
Contract Details
9. Location: Waterlooville
10. Position: SEN Personal Care Assistant
11. Start Date: ASAP
12. Contract Type: Full‑time with temp‑to‑perm pathways; ad‑hoc supply also available
13. Working Hours: 09:00 – 15:00
14. Pay Rate: £16,£17,
Requirements
To be considered, you must:
15. Have the Right to Work in the UK
16. Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
17. Provide professional references covering the last 24 months
18. Hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, or health & social care or have relevant SEN or personal care experience
