About the role
We’re looking for a MI Workflow Lead and Analyst to join our team in Boots Opticians.
Reporting line
You will report into the MI and Insights Manager.
Key responsibilities
* Manage the business analysis backlog through implementing an intake process for new work requests, prioritising the team workload, assigning tasks to team members, tracking delivery, and providing stakeholder communications.
* Implement business‑wide improvements to Opticians’ use of data (e.g., best practice use of AI tools, creating requirements for new data feeds) and be the business product owner of regular MI performance reporting.
* Provide analysis for stakeholders including the Opticians Leadership team, supporting data‑driven decision‑making and transforming data into actionable insight. Extract, transform, model data, and visualise complex data sets in dashboards and presentations.
* Own the MI team backlog and work with stakeholders to ingest and schedule new work requests. Manage the work schedules of team members and track delivery of assigned tasks, updating stakeholders on progress.
* Support the Head of Data and Programmes and MI and Insights Manager by leading business‑wide improvements to data usage within the Opticians business.
* Be the Opticians product owner for regular MI business performance reporting and continuous improvement of dashboards.
* Grow the level of insight in the optician’s business through detailed analysis, translating findings to stakeholders and decision makers.
* Identify operational opportunities and risks, supporting the strategic long‑term vision of the business through analytics.
* Provide training and support to colleagues on data tools and analytics best practices.
Qualifications and skills
* Analytical mindset, motivation to identify issues and opportunities.
* Experience with SQL for data extraction and transformation, and Power BI (or equivalent) for visualisation.
* Ability to visualise data and insights in compelling and actionable ways using visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
* Curiosity and eagerness to continuously develop skills.
* Effective communication across varying levels of data literacy and seniority, conveying the “so what” to stakeholders.
* Comfortable working with vague briefs, focusing on the output and actions of analysis.
* Resilience when overcoming obstacles to achieve results.
* Strong stakeholder management skills; networking and influencing.
