Overview
Senior Geophysicist position at Zetica. We are seeking a highly motivated, inquisitive, and thorough geophysicist capable of leading and managing complex geophysical projects, mentoring the team, and contributing to R&D efforts to keep Zetica at the cutting edge of the industry.
Responsibilities
* Technical Leadership: Lead the design and planning of geophysical surveys, provide input on complex technical solutions at the proposal stage, and refine these during project execution. Oversee the application of advanced geophysical techniques to meet client needs as a senior team member.
* Fieldwork Oversight: Ensure data quality and technical integrity throughout fieldwork, conduct site visits as required, support field teams, and lead technically demanding fieldwork when necessary.
* Advanced Data Analysis: Provide leadership in processing, interpretation, and reporting, taking responsibility for complex, high-value projects and delivering clear data-driven insights to clients and internal teams.
* Quality and Innovation: Maintain Zetica’s high standards of quality assurance, delivering projects on time and within budget while incorporating innovative techniques where applicable.
* Cross-Sector Expertise: Lead projects across transport infrastructure, engineering/geotechnical, geological/environmental geophysical surveys, unexploded ordnance detection, and utility service detection.
* Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance to develop the skills and expertise of the wider team.
* Occasional Fieldwork: Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork, mostly in the UK, with possible international travel depending on project requirements.
Qualifications
* Academic Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in geophysics or a related field.
* Experience: At least 7 years of hands-on experience in high-resolution, near-surface geophysical investigations, with a proven track record of managing complex, large-scale projects from planning through delivery. Experience leading teams and overseeing high-value projects.
* Technical Expertise: Proficiency in geophysical methods including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetics (EM), Magnetometry, Microgravity, Electrical methods (resistivity, induced polarization), and Seismic methods (P- and S-wave refraction, surface wave analysis).
* Software Proficiency: Experience with geophysical processing/interpretation software (e.g., Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zonde, Aarhus Workbench) and coding in Python for custom processing; proficiency with GIS/mapping tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, QGIS).
* Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership with excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strategic Thinking: Forward-thinking with ability to identify innovation opportunities and drive R&D within geophysics.
* Additional Requirements: Must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
* Location and Travel: Location preferred in Eynsham, UK; willingness to travel up to 25% (preferred).
