Senior Producer/Journalist: Times Podcasts
The Team: Times Podcasts is responsible for designing and producing podcasts that match the breadth, depth, and dynamism of the journalism found in The Times and The Sunday Times. The team is expanding to test new podcast ideas and to help produce a podcast portfolio that covers politics to sport, and we are looking for Senior Producers to help lead a group of programme makers and develop new talent.
Your role: As a Senior Podcast Producer, reporting to the Editor, Times Podcasts, you will identify, pitch, and develop compelling podcast series, often in partnership with our talent, correspondents, and producers. You will work closely with some of Britain’s leading journalists, creating audio that sets the news agenda and examines major stories in a new light.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Identifying existing internal podcast opportunities and producing new original podcast content, both daily and serialized storytelling.
2. Managing podcast productions, including budgets, staffing, and creativity.
3. Collaborating with staff on digital podcast best practices.
4. Partnering with cross-network teams on marketing, sales, and communication strategies.
5. Forward planning and generating new ideas.
6. Potentially working unsociable hours, including weekends.
7. Working independently and with the capacity to approve material and instruct others.
Qualifications and skills required:
* A proactive, organized personality with excellent multitasking skills.
* A strong track record in audio storytelling, ideally with experience in producing successful podcasts or radio programs.
* Exceptional audio recording and editing skills, familiar with advanced editing software; familiarity with filming and video editing is a plus.
* Detailed knowledge of UK journalism legal frameworks and industry guidelines.
* Excellent writing skills and strong, creative content ideas.
* Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
* Ability to build professional relationships and communicate effectively with presenters and team members.
* A creative mindset, proactive attitude, and experience leading complex production processes.
