We are seeking skilled Data Cabling Engineers to install and terminate Cat 6a cabling for Data infrastructure projects. Engineers will be responsible for deploying Cat 6a cables in a distribution centre. The role will involve setting up high-performance network cabling for 10 Gbps connectivity and ensuring optimal signal quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install and terminate Cat 6a cabling in commercial, office, and event spaces.
* Run and secure long-distance copper cabling, ensuring a tidy, organised distribution centre.
* Terminate Cat 6a cables into patch panels, network switches, and outlets.
* Test cable installations to ensure they meet industry standards for performance (e.g., using Fluke testers).
* Maintain cable management practices to ensure efficient and safe routing.
* Follow health and safety protocols at all times on-site.
* Troubleshoot and rectify any issues with installed cables and connections.
* Work alongside other site engineers and project managers to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Requirements:
* Valid ECS or CSCS card
* Proven experience in Cat 6a installation and termination.
* Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and practices.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Tools & PPE (Required):
* Hand tools: Punch-down tool, RJ45 crimper, cable stripper/cutter, screwdrivers, tester (Fluke or equivalent).
* PPE: Hard hat, high-vis vest/jacket, steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses.
* Labeling kit: Preferred (for cable management and identification).
* Previous experience with Cat 6a and high-speed network cabling.
* Familiarity with data center environments or temporary event infrastructure.
* Understanding of networking equipment (e.g., switches, routers, patch panels).
