Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist – Plastic Surgery
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Head and Neck directorate as a Plastic Surgery Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a great opportunity to be involved in leading a service that is evolving and developing, the successful candidate needs to be adaptable.
To apply for this post, we seek individuals who have recent plastics and wound care specialist knowledge, experience, and training in these areas. Further specialist training, support and mentorship is available.
The role will be based at Townlands Memorial Hospital, Henley-on-Thames, with regular clinics also held at West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham, and Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. The successful candidate will therefore play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless patient pathways across sites, contributing to excellent standards of care and accessibility for our patients.
A key component of this post will be supporting the delivery of our Minor Operations service at Townlands Memorial Hospital. This includes providing clinical input in nurse-led settings, assisting in the running of minor operations lists, and ensuring safe and effective post-operative care and wound management.
You will also play a key role in staff and patient education, working closely within the multidisciplinary team.

Hold and manage own defined caseload of plastic surgery patients.
Provide a comprehensive wound management service, including assessment, planning, and coordination of care for patients undergoing plastic surgery.
Support and participate in nurse-led clinics and minor operations lists across Royal Berkshire Hospital, West Berkshire Community Hospital, and Townlands Memorial Hospital.
Prescribe and review medications where qualified, or under Patient Group Directions, to support safe and effective care.
Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams, and allied health professionals to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Lead clinical audit, use outcome data and patient feedback to inform service improvements, and contribute to the Trust's clinical governance agenda.
Contribute to formal and informal teaching programmes relating to plastic surgery, wound management, and minor operations.
