Description

About the Team

The Direct Payment Team sits within the Safe and Caring Communities Directorate and is known for being supportive, collaborative, and people‑focused. We work closely with individuals and their families so they can take control of their own personal care budgets and tailor support to their needs.

About the Role

As a Direct Payment Officer, you'll play a vital role in empowering individuals who have chosen to manage their own care. You will:

* Advise, set up and review Direct Payment accounts

* Work directly with people and their families to ensure payments support their assessed care needs and comply with the Care Act

* Communicate regularly by phone and email, with occasional home visits

* Raising of invoices and recover unused Direct Payment funds.

* Liaise with a range of internal and external partners

* Work flexibly as part of a hybrid-working team

This is a hybrid working role, with a mixture of office and home working. There will be a requirement to attend an office regularly for training purposes, team meetings and requested office days.

This is a public‑facing role and therefore requires the statutory standard of spoken English.

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

What You'll Need to Succeed

We're looking for someone who brings:

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* A high level of accuracy and attention to detail

* Confidence working independently as well as part of a team

* Strong organisational, diary management and problem‑solving skills

* Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel

* GCSEs Grade 9–4 (A–C) in English and Maths, or equivalent experience

Knowledge of Direct Payments is welcome but not essential — we will provide full, supportive training. Above all, we're looking for someone with a positive, can‑do attitude and a willingness to learn.
