My client is a leading manufacturer of specialist solutions, based in the heart of the West Midlands, looking to recruit for a Control Systems Engineer to join their Electrical and Controls Engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Control Systems Engineer
Key Responsibilities
* Creating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) code to control industrial machinery.
* Creating project plans to support machine control refurbishment, equipment installation, automation improvement, and cost reduction projects.
* Designing, implementing, configuring and maintaining a wide range of control systems.
* Establishing and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
* Improving machine PLC controls and processes to increase equipment effectiveness.
* Working on equipment PLC data networks and improve process data capture.
* Implementing control system upgrade projects and improve control panel design.
* Identifying and implementing improvements to improve the reliability of equipment, reducing reoccurring faults and downtime.
Control Systems Engineer
Skills/Experience
* 5 years’ experience working with industrial automation systems
* HND or BEng in Electrical Engineering or a similarly relatable field
* Experienced in managing and delivering automation project from concept to completion
* Good working knowledge of functional safety systems
* Confident and competent in PLC programming from scratch, as well as able to carry out modifications
* Familiar with schematic diagrams, datasheets and cause & effect diagrams
* A strong problem solver, able to diagnose issues with PLC’s and control systems
* Good knowledge of SCADA, HMI, BPCS and SIS systems
* Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical instrumentation
* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
