Further Information We have an amazing opportunity for a Trainee Careers Advisor (Children & Young People) to join our team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, whilst studying towards a Level 6 Career Development Professional apprenticeship qualification.

Our Careers Team support young people in Stockton schools and through their transitions into college, training, apprenticeships, university, and work.
You will have opportunities to work on a 1:1 basis with young people across schools, colleges and with those who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), managing a caseload of targeted and vulnerable young people. Through assessing needs and building plans with young people you will be providing support to young people to overcome their individual barriers to learning and to meet their full potential.
This is our fourth consecutive year of employing an Apprentice in this role, so you will work with and learn from three people who have taken this route, you will be joining an incredibly supportive team and have countless opportunities to learn from highly capable, friendly and experienced colleagues.
You will be provided with all the training and support you need to be a success. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, personal attributes, skills and behaviours:
1. Level 3 qualification (Apprenticeship Standard, A-levels or BTec or equivalent - Expected or Obtained)
2. Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (must include English & Maths)
3. Excellent IT Skills – Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
4. Good Communication skills including report writing skills
5. Ability to organise own workload and work effectively under pressure
6. Ability or willingness to work towards independent travel around and outside the Borough
7. Flexibility to work outside normal office hours inc. weekends.

SALARY: Starting £23,500p.a. increasing to £29,777p.a. following successful completion of career grade criteria.
