M&E Project Engineer (Contract) – South West The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated M&E Project Engineer to support the delivery of a large non-infra MEICA project based in the South West. This is a 12-month contract with extensions highly likely, suitable for candidates from either a mechanical or electrical bias. The ideal candidate will have experience working within the Water sector on clean or wastewater projects. Prior knowledge or experience of DSEAR/ CompEx would be advantageous, though not essential. As the Project Engineer, you will play a key role linking design and delivery, ensuring engineering requirements are met while driving innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. The role will involve both office and site-based work, liaising closely with project managers, site teams, and suppliers. Key Responsibilities * Provide engineering and constructability input through design and construction phases as a Project Engineer. * Act as the technical point of contact for mechanical and electrical engineering (including DSEAR considerations where applicable). * Support site installation teams during construction to ensure quality and efficiency. * Review and validate design information, ensuring compliance and suitability for site conditions. * Lead procurement of M&E equipment, ensuring compliance and best value. * Assist with technical aspects of contracts and sub-contracts as the Project Engineer responsible for delivery. * Liaise with suppliers to ensure delivery against quality and programme targets. * Review technical validity of estimates and forecasts. * Coordinate site surveys and visits to support design and delivery. * Compile and check O&M manuals and other handover documentation with the support of the wider Project Engineer team. About You * Mechanical or electrical background, with good technical confidence in both disciplines. * Strong communicator with the ability to influence and solve problems effectively. * Experience in the water industry, CDM, or DSEAR/CompEx is desirable but not essential. * Able to manage your own workload and time effectively as a professional Project Engineer. * Educated to HND/degree level, or equivalent practical experience.
