Overview
Role: EHCO Plan Coordinator
Salary: £250 per day (Umbrella)
Location: Barnsley (hybrid post with a requirement to attend the office in Barnsley on Mondays and Thursdays)
Client: Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council - Children and Family Services (SEND)
Contract Type: Temporary (Initial 3 months)
Hours: Full time – Monday to Friday (09:00 – 17:00)
Responsibilities
* Provide statutory advice and guidance relating to the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
* Implement, maintain, and review statutory procedures as set out in regulations.
* Work collaboratively with parents, carers, children, and young people to co-produce Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans.
* Project manage statutory processes for issuing and maintaining EHC Plans within a defined caseload.
* Prepare accurate and compliant reports, plans, and casework for panels, tribunals, and appeals.
* Provide a sensitive, professional service to families, particularly when outcomes may not align with their expectations.
* Produce performance management information relevant to the service.
* Attend face-to-face meetings and visits with parents, carers, and partner professionals.
* Promote continuous improvement by contributing to service development objectives.
* Escalate complex cases to senior officers as appropriate.
* Engage in ongoing professional development to ensure compliance with national policies and regulations.
Experience & Knowledge
* Experience of working within Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
* Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, legislation, and services for children, young people, and families.
* Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with families, professionals, and multi-agency partners.
* Experience of using management information systems and databases, including reporting functions.
Skills & Competencies
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to communicate fluently in spoken English in line with public sector requirements.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet statutory deadlines.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* High standard of report writing and documentation production.
* Resilient under pressure with strong problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
* Educated to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) – Essential.
* Evidence of relevant training and continuing professional development.

* Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
* Commitment to the council\'s values, behaviours, and service standards.
* Ability to travel as required in connection with the post.
