Location: Grange Crescent, S11 8AY
Salary: £13.02 per hour
Contract: Part time, Permanent 25 hours per week

At Sheffcare, we’re looking for a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our residential care home in Sheffield. We are an independent Sheffield-based charity, established in 1994. We care for older people and people living with dementia in our nine residential homes across the city. Guided by our values Kindness, Dignity, Respect, Independence, and Choices we put compassion and community at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
Cook As a Cook at Sheffcare, you’ll prepare and serve nutritious, home-cooked meals that make a real difference to the lives of our residents.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Planning menus to meet a range of dietary needs, both medical and cultural
* Preparing and cooking homemade meals using fresh ingredients
* Maintaining excellent hygiene standards in food preparation
* Ordering and checking provisions, reporting shortages or poor-quality goods
* Checking and recording fridge/freezer temperatures and ensuring regular cleaning
* Supporting special occasions with catering (e.g. birthdays and seasonal events)
* Participating in induction and training, with supervision from the Senior Cook
* Upholding Sheffcare’s values in everything you do
About You
We’re looking for people who are:
* Experienced in working in a busy kitchen
* Aware of food safety and hygiene protocols
* Proactive, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines
* Organised with strong time management skills
* Observant with excellent attention to detail
* Keen to learn and develop within a supportive charity
Shift Pattern
* 3 to 4 days per week
* Hours usually between 7:30am – 4:00pm
* Includes some weekends (usually alternate)
* Bank holiday cover required
