About Waythrough

Waythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we’ve created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our National Psychological Services Team on a 6-month contract. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and improve mental health support at a national level.

You will lead a review of mental health provision across our residential (non-inpatient) services, identifying strengths, gaps, and making clear, evidence-based recommendations to improve consistency and impact. You will also support multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) with high-quality assessment and support planning for new referrals.

Working closely with the National Lead for Psychological Services, you will contribute to service development and the implementation of effective, practical improvements.

This is a hybrid role, combining remote working with site visits across key localities (to be discussed). Travel and expenses will be reimbursed.

Key Duties

1. Lead a national review of mental health support delivery
2. Identify gaps and recommend service improvements
3. Support MDTs with assessment and support planning
4. Contribute to service development and implementation of best practice
5. Provide clinical and strategic expertise across services
6. Engage with teams across multiple locations

About You

7. Doctorate in Clinical or Forensic Psychology and HCPC registration
8. Strong experience in complex mental health or forensic settings
9. Experience in service evaluation or quality improvement
10. Skilled in working with MDTs and influencing service development
11. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
12. Able to work independently and travel for site visits
