Job Summary
The Specialist Children's Division is a highly experienced and professional multi-disciplinary team delivering therapeutic services for children in the London borough of Enfield.
The services include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Complex Needs and Palliative Care Nursing, and Specialist Family Support. The team collaborates with other disciplines within the Child Development Team and Primary Care Team (Health Visiting, School Nursing, Safeguarding services) to provide comprehensive care across the borough.
The Physiotherapy service is an established Musculoskeletal (0-14 years) and Neurodisability (0-19 years) service providing specialised assessments and interventions in community settings, schools, clinics, and the Child Development Centre.
The Band 7 physiotherapist will manage a mixed caseload of children of all ages, providing specialist assessments for children aged 0-18 with complex presentations, working autonomously and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including paediatricians, orthopaedic consultants, GPs, SLT, OT, nurses, social care professionals, and educational staff.
Responsibilities include educating families and carers on physiotherapy management, working with equipment services, and ensuring physiotherapy treatment is integrated into overall care plans. The role involves formulating individualised treatment plans using clinical reasoning and specialist approaches, adhering to national standards, and following NICE guidelines.
The post requires the use of highly specialized manual physiotherapeutic techniques, complex decision-making, risk assessments, and management of equipment and safety protocols. The role is integral to the North Central London ICS, supporting training and development for students and staff.
