About the role Work in Hydro Tasmania’s Cambridge workshop performing specialist fitting and machining to support our Major Refurbishment Program. You’ll refurbish and restore large hydropower components, collaborating with engineers, contractors and trades to extend the life of assets that have operated for over 100 years. This role offers rare exposure to unique machinery in one of Tasmania’s largest workshops. Key responsibilities • Perform fitting and machining on hydropower equipment and assets. • Machine large components using lathes and milling equipment. • Refurbish turbine parts, gates and large valves. • Collaborate with engineers, contractors and specialist trades. • Mentor and support Trainees and Apprentices. More information can be found in the attached Position Description: PD- AI- Fitter Machinist - HT3.pdf Skills & experience • Trade qualification as a Fitter Machinist. • Experience in heavy machining and workshop environments. • High competence in lathe and milling operations. • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. • Interest in large-scale asset refurbishment and renewable energy.
