Mechanical Construction Manager – Life Sciences Project Location: Cambridge, UK Contract Value: £40M MEP ️ Project Scope: Shell & Core Lab & Office Fit-Out Start Date: Immediate / Short Notice Preferred Contract or Permanent Opportunities Available My client is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Construction Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of a major life sciences development in Cambridge. This is a £40M MEP package involving a complex laboratory and office fit-out, along with full shell and core services. ️ Role Overview: As Mechanical Construction Manager, you’ll oversee the full mechanical installation and coordination on site, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of high-spec systems in a live and technically demanding environment. ⚙️ Key Responsibilities: - Manage all mechanical construction activities across shell & core and fit-out phases. - Coordinate subcontractors and ensure all work is completed to spec, on time, and to a high standard. - Liaise closely with electrical, architectural, and client teams to ensure integration of services. - Oversee QA/QC procedures, progress tracking, and technical resolution. - Support and manage commissioning schedules and handover milestones. - Champion site safety and ensure full compliance with regulations. Candidate Requirements: - Strong experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on high-value MEP projects (experience in life sciences, healthcare, or complex commercial sectors preferred). - In-depth understanding of HVAC, pipework, ductwork, BMS, and public health systems. - Experience managing large-scale construction programmes (£20M MEP value advantageous). - SMSTS, CSCS, and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g. HNC, NVQ, or trade background). - Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
