Information Services are seeking an experienced IT service delivery professional to join the Service Delivery & IT Business Partnering Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team of five IT Business Partners, providing strategic service management and support to university faculties and central departments.
As a key member of the team, the IT Service Delivery Manager will act as a strategic interface between Information Services and its customers, suppliers, and third‑party partners. The postholder will build strong relationships with stakeholders, working collaboratively to develop and deliver IT service plans that align with business needs and institutional priorities.
A core focus of the role will be the operational leadership of the IS Service Desk, ensuring the delivery of a high‑quality support service in a busy Higher Education environment. The successful candidate will have proven recent experience in managing an IT Service Desk within a large and complex organisation, ideally within the Education sector. They must demonstrate hands‑on leadership in overseeing high‑volume service desk operations, ensuring efficient incident resolution, service request fulfil‑ment, and continuous improvement of support processes.
The IT Service Delivery Manager will line manage a team with a mix of technical and service management skills, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus. The role requires a strong practical background in the use of the ITIL Framework to deliver IT services and drive service excellence.
Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working may be available for this role, working 4 days on site and 1 day at home. The interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 24 November 2025.
It is expected that Service Delivery Managers will rotate between customer groups based on organisational need, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities.
