Interim Food Enforcement Officer London £45 - £55 per hour or Price per inspection £60 - £80 Part-time contract Until end of October 2025 Flexible working pattern A progressive local authority is seeking an experienced Food Enforcement Officer to support its Commercial Services Team on a part-time interim basis, initially until October 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional looking to undertake inspections on a flexible schedule. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing 80–100 food hygiene inspections across a range of food premises, primarily Category D, with some Category B and C. The contract offers a per-inspection rate and the flexibility to structure your workload around other professional commitments. Key responsibilities of the Food Enforcement Officer: Carry out regulatory food hygiene inspections of businesses in line with statutory requirements Produce clear and accurate inspection reports and assign risk ratings Where required, issue extended reports and correspondence (paid additionally at an agreed rate) Maintain accurate records to support compliance and enforcement actions Ensure inspections meet required standards of professional practice and documentation The ideal candidate will have: One of the following qualifications: Higher or Advanced Certificate in Food Premises Inspection (Environmental Health Registration Board) A BSc or MSc in Environmental Health (or equivalent) Up-to-date CPD record (20 hours annually), including 10 hours focused on regulatory food safety inspections Demonstrated competency in food premises inspections, ideally with a completed competency assessment document Experience in delivering food inspections in local government or regulatory settings Strong report-writing, risk assessment, and regulatory communication skills If you’re interested in this position then please send your most up-to-date CV to George Batson at g.batson@baltimoreconsultingltd.com or call 0117 313 7110.
