Varied, hands-on role in a leading independent legal and professional services firm
Full-time, fully office-based role in Barrow-in-Furness
We’re working with one of the largest independent professional services firms in South Cumbria to recruit an Accounts Assistant / Legal Cashier to join their busy finance team. The firm is looking for someone who has achieved or is working towards their AAT Level 3 qualification, ideally with experience of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and/or finance experience within a law firm. You’ll be joining a supportive team environment, contributing to a wide range of finance tasks and gaining exposure to a diverse legal and professional services setting.
Responsibilities include:
* Posting daily receipts and payments to Client and Office accounts
* Processing electronic payments including CHAPS, BACS, and Faster Payments
* Reconciling bank accounts on a daily and monthly basis in line with SARs requirements
* Allocating and processing client bills, disbursements, and supplier invoices
* Managing client account transfers for property transactions and completions
* Ensuring correct VAT treatment on all transactions
* Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting
* Liaising with fee earners and support teams to resolve finance queries
* Supporting with payroll, expenses, and pension contributions
* Undertaking ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required
What we need from you:
* AAT Level 3 (achieved or working towards)
* Ideally finance experience within a law firm / familiarity with the Solicitors Accounts Rules
* The ability to commute daily to the firm’s offices in Barrow-in-Furness
