Salary range: £75,000 to £90,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Bristol
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office and working from home.

Are you a talented and experienced naval combat systems engineer (focused on the sense, decide, effect and connect functions) looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Engineering Design Group.
Job Description:
As an experienced Combat Systems engineer, you shall provide the leadership, expertise and experience needed to facilitate the delivery of naval projects. As a consultant engineer you will also need to be flexible and interested in supporting diverse engineering projects delivered by the Design Engineering Group and the wider Frazer-Nash Consultancy community.
Work will initially focus on exploiting your naval warfare engineering knowledge and experience. The role will involve researching state of the art technology, information gathering, assessing the associated system performance, fit and integration issues, assessing technical feasibility, cost and schedule options and reporting results.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Project Management
* Technical team development (Including drafting tender documents, proposal writing, onboarding, resource management and mentoring)
* Technical lead (Including work scope definition, technical supervision, technical assurance, governance and delivery, exploitation and steering of Research & Development)
* Project Management (Including project programming, programme reporting, project governance, tool set management, data management)
* Risk Management (including identifying, assessing and mitigating technical and programmatic risks in relevant projects).
* Stakeholder engagement (Customer liaison, interfacing with task sponsors and wider stakeholder community)
Leadership
* Formation of a multicompany, cohesive study teams
* Providing leadership to study teams
* Stakeholder management
* Technical guidance to graduate trainees
* Supporting the longer-term sustainment and development of the Design Engineering Group
Technical Lead
* Development and refinement of technical scopes of work for studies, pre-concept design studies, technical tasks and a diverse range of projects related to the applicant engineers experience
* Ensuring effective interaction between technical studies both within your team and other project teams
* Technical governance (oversite, assurance and proposal/report/deliverable approval and acceptance) for internal and external studies, tasks or projects
Technology innovation
* Exploitation and steering of R&D
Governance
* Responsible for the resourcing, conduct, management, reporting and delivery of tasks and their deliverables
* Responsible for deliverable acceptance
Qualification Requirement
Essential:
* Degree qualified engineer in a discipline relevant to the role description
Desirable:
* Chartered engineer
Experience Requirement
Applicants should demonstrate their ability to deliver against the following elements of the Roles & Responsibilities and experience should be within the last five years.
* Project and or Programme Management
* Team leadership
* Technical Lead for naval studies
* Technical experience of naval warfare, combat systems engineering (including sense, decide, effect, connect)
Of added benefit, applicants could demonstrate their ability to deliver against the following elements of the Roles & Responsibilities and experience should be within the last five years.
* Experience of communications, information systems, information security, navigation systems.
* Experience of naval concepts and doctrine and doctrine development
* Experience in Test and Evaluation activities
* Experience of innovative technology exploitation
* Experience of Combat System integration aspects of vessel designs featuring autonomy
