Job Summary
We are recruiting a Pharmacy Technician to work closely with nursing and medical staff and patients on day case units and wards. Applicants with retail pharmacy background are welcome. The department offers excellent education and training support.

Salary includes a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,552, maximum £5,735 per annum pro‑rata).
Main duties of the job
* Participate in dispensing prescriptions for in‑patients and out‑patients, including clinical trials and carrying out final checks as per the department’s accreditation scheme.
* Perform all other dispensary activities as designated by the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager, patient services or their deputy.
* 'Topping‑up' service: supply stocks of medicinal products to wards and departments and participate in the non‑stock top‑up service to one‑stop wards.
* Assist with purchasing according to departmental procedures and the rota.
* Counsel and provide information to patients/carers collecting medication from the dispensary, including prescription payment, exemption, and further supplies.

Person Specification
Essential
* NVQ3 or BTEC Cert. in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
* Minimum 4 GCSEs grades C/4 and above, including English, Maths and Science
* Level 2 functional skills in Maths/English acceptable in place of GCSE Maths/English
* Commitment to undertake Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice
* Experience in hospital or retail pharmacy
* Computer and IT literate; need for confidentiality
* Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion; role model Trust values every day
Desirable
* Registered with the GPhC, or be a final‑year trainee Pharmacy Technician awaiting registration
* Experience in using JAC dispensing system
* Previous experience working with oncology patients
* Leadership skills
* Preparation of written reports and procedures, contributing to SOPS, reports and audits
* Willingness to complete a course of study
