Reports to: Food & Beverage Supervisor / Camp Services Manager / Head Chef
Position Overview:
The Waiter/Waitress 1 delivers efficient, courteous, and professional dining service to guests, staff, or residents under the clients care. This role ensures that food and beverage experiences meet hospitality standards, whether in high-traffic dining halls, remote camps, event venues, or formal executive dining settings.
Responsibilities

Greet guests or staff warmly, escort them to seating, and present menus when applicable.
Take accurate food and beverage orders, relay them to the kitchen, and ensure timely delivery.
Serve meals, drinks, and condiments in accordance with portion control, hygiene, and presentation standards.
Set up and clear tables, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for the next service.
Replenish buffet stations and ensure proper labeling, freshness, and temperature maintenance.
Handle special dietary requests and communicate any allergies or food restrictions to kitchen staff.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
Support event setups, VIP service, or extended meal hours as needed by the client.
Monitor dining area for cleanliness, spills, or safety hazards and take corrective action.
Ensure adherence to hygiene, food safety, and COVID-19 service protocols.
Record consumption, issue receipts, or complete service logs for tracking and cost control.
Maintain proper grooming, uniform standards, and respectful behavior at all times.
Assist in inventory, restocking, and cleaning duties during off-peak times.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:
KCSE certificate minimum.
Food Handlers Certificate required.
Basic training in hospitality or customer service is an added advantage.
Experience:
1+ year of experience as a waiter/waitress in a hotel, camp, cafeteria, or catering environment.
Experience serving international or multicultural clientele is desirable.
Familiarity with POS systems or order-taking apps is a plus.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attentive, organized, and capable of multi-tasking under pressure.
Basic English required; Kiswahili or other languages an added benefit.
Customer-first attitude with strong problem-solving instincts.
Able to lift trays, stand for long hours, and work in busy service areas.
Other Requirements:
Willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and remote site assignments.
Must uphold confidentiality, hygiene, and client service standards.
Presentable appearance and team-focused work ethic.
