Fabricator/Welder Advanced Apprenticeship This role includes: carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc. You will use tools and techniques available for cutting, shaping, assembling and finishing materials. You will use inspection techniques that can be applied to check shape and dimensional accuracy. Working week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00 and Friday 08:00 - 12:30 Total hours per week: 37 hours a week What will the apprentice be doing? Fabrication / welding of industrial structures - the successful candidate will be able to read and implement from technical drawings Cutting bending and welding of products Finishing and quality inspection Workshop Health & Safety Ensure Quality Control and Test Inspection documents for the project are completed as per planned timescales Following good practice in regards to material sustainability (Reuse and/or Recycle) initiatives to reduce waste and save costs Ensuring all necessary checks to ensure that installed services and equipment complies with the contract documentation Recording and reporting all defective materials and substandard quality/workmanship standards that do not meet the works specification/s Determine and assess the need for additional staff and resources Report changes in project scope, identify project risks and assist in devising contingency plans Adhere to best practices and tools for project execution and management Some travel may be required for installation phase What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) Level 3 NVQ in Fabrication and Welding What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
