Harris Primary Academy Shortlands has been open since 2015 and is Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' in all areas. We have 14 classes from Reception to Year 6 (2-form entry). Role
Premises Manager – report to the Estates Manager and lead the Premises Team to manage the upkeep, care, maintenance, health and safety and facilities management of Harris Primary Academy Shortlands.
Main Areas of Responsibility
* Leadership and Management of Premises Team
* Responsible for all people management aspects of the team of Premises Officers / the Premises Officer, in liaison with the Resources Manager; including recruitment, performance management, training, and development of minor maintenance skills
* Schedule, prioritise and supervise the work of premises staff and other employed staff within their area of responsibility
* Building Maintenance: supervise premises staff to maximise value for money and productivity
* Supervise all work by outside agencies and contractors to ensure quality control and address inefficiencies with the Principal/Estates Manager
* Lead refurbishments or building work as required by the academy leadership team
* Maintain academy vehicles and ensure they are safe for use
* Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards across the site
* Provide technical and craft support to teaching staff within capability
* Regularly inspect internal and external fabric of the buildings; initiate repairs and discuss major defects with the Resources Manager and the Principal
* Coordinate with Estates Manager/Resources Manager/Principal on security during the day and out of hours
* Complete tasks within their area of responsibility as reasonably requested
* Maintain, decorate and repair premises within capability
* Oversee deliveries and ensure stock/items are promptly dealt with
* Oversee a planned programme of maintenance and repair, procuring contracts as required with specialist companies, under direction from the Principal/Resources Manager/Estates Manager
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
* Knowledge and training of relevant Health and Safety legislation
* Training in one or more of: plumbing, general and grounds maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems, or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of heating, ventilation systems and common malfunctions
* Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures
* Knowledge of procurement procedures for service level agreements
* Knowledge of supervisory skills
* Understanding of cleaning methods and standards
