Senior Theatre Support Worker – Emergency and Neuro Theatres
Join our dynamic team in Obstetric & Gynaecology Theatres. You will work alongside Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to ensure safe and efficient care delivery to patients undergoing surgery.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
* Assist patients to access and use toilet facilities or continence aids and achieve physical comfort.
* Assist in positioning patients in theatre and in the recovery area, ensuring pressure areas are protected and patient comfort is maintained.
* Work flexibly within theatre schedules – days, evenings and weekends.
* Undertake clinical duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies.
* Handle and store patient specimens safely, complying with Trust policy.
* Maintain patient safety, adhering to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
* Contribute to a safe, clean and productive care environment, compliant with hygiene and cleanliness standards.
* Maintain and develop own competence in accordance with Trust and local policy.
* Communicate and document information in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Actively resolve issues and complaints at the local level and report outcomes to line manager.
Key Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience working in an Operating Theatre.
* Strong communication and team‑working skills.
* Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a busy, demanding environment.
* Passion for providing excellent care and support to patients.
You will be expected to show initiative, take responsibility for your actions, and support the surgical team in delivering outstanding care, even in challenging circumstances.
Provide evidence of qualifications. Overseas qualifications must be proven comparable to UK standards through a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC.
